1.Berlin and Belfast are cities that had or have “walls” cutting through them. What do they represent and, as a result, what do they say, if in different ways, about the geography of social divisions? How can you use Ladd’s approach to Berlin to understand Belfast?

2.Industrial cities across Northwest Europe face serious problems of declining employment and population loss. Provide a general overview of why this has happened and give one detailed example of a city that has been afflicted.
