This film had Disney’s first African American princess, and yet, she spends most of her time on screen as a frog. Do you think that this would have the potential to make have less of an impact? Why or why not? Give specific examples. Similarly, do you notice any differences between the ways that the people of color are depicted in the film versus those who are white? One example to consider for this questions: Think about the jobs the various people (based on race) have in the film. What stereotypes, if any, do you notice?

The Davis article focuses on princesses between 1989 – 2005, which is obviously before The Princess and the Frog, however based on what you saw in the film, what characteristics does Tiana share with the princesses discussed in the Princesses trope? How does she differ?
